I know you mean well and trying to do something. But, please do not send this letter.
The purpose of this letter is to impress the person you are sending this to. You do not do that by protesting and complaining. Your letter need to be professional, courteous and grammatically correct and pleasant to read. Remember, the purpose is to impress and sell your point of view to President himself. Poorly drafted letter may actually have a negative impact, especially when we are claiming ourselves as skilled professionals.
Achoo makes good points in other post. This is not to insult you and I know English is not our first language and most of us struggle with it including myself. But we should make an effort to get this right.

And btw, I am a skilled immigrant for my programming skills, not an english professor.
One more thing, I am not here to sell my point. I am trying to point out the discrimination in the system. It is for US to decide whether my presence benefits them or not. I am not trying to sell something thats already a hot selling cake.

My guess is Eb3 India will not be current this year. From other Law firm site I observe that we will see mini version of what happend last year so I guess Eb2 I will be current .. ( Not because I am Eb2 ( I ) ) . Eb3 ROW will be C guys soon..

Is suing the only option? USCIS could be making unintended mistake. We want to get clarification in a smoother and faster process before the flood gates open in October.
There should be some other legal-process to get written clarifications/interpretation etc on the law (like some kind of AILA discussion with CIS).

The newsletter mentioned above was sent out to all members yesterday afternoon. Maybe some have turned off emails from IV, or it went to the spam folder.
I have received the news letter and it is pretty neat. But you know, many people are busy. So my suggestion was to send out another simple version with only the Advocacy day link with a request for contribution.

A note to my fellow IV members - I am not after the $42/Hr job. Good luck in finding a US citizen to do this job. I was wrong about EEO, it is actually IRCA which prohibits discrimination in recruitment and hiring.

But the point remains - visa status based discrimination is illegal not matter which law is being violated, and must be highlighted. We have to correct the misinformation spread by anti-immigrant groups that most jobs are "reserved for H1Bs", while the reality is different. Most jobs are "reserved" for American workers (although such reservation is illegal under IRCA). We have to provide the proof that the myth of "thousands of jobs reserved for foreign workers" in nothing but a myth. My posting is a small step in that direction.
Here is another one in the continuing series of exposing the highly prevalent illegal hiring practice. I request everyone to start posting similar job-ads you get from recruiters. Once we get a hundred or more ads here, we can start E-mailing the links to the media.

Hey I did 1 year of a PhD paying OUT OF STATE TUTION before I got a waiver with a research group in school. Majority of international students do not get assistantships to go to school. SO THEY PAY TUITION and TAXES after they start to work just like you Mr. GCsucks. You’re taxes go to the war effort and not to fund university research unlike tuition paid by international students. Is this rally still on? On 14th? Then please update the first post on this thread which still says July 7th - it is confusing.
Also, considering that there are only 4 more days to the rally if it is on 14th, we need considerably more publicity in the media and on blogs on this.
This rally will be a watershed event because as far as I know, this would be the first of its kind by skilled, legal immigrants and it should get the media attention that it deserves.

If someone ports from eb3 to eb2 they should get the priority date of the day they were eligible to file an eb2 and not be able to carry the date from eb3.
Porting makes sense in a family based visa where your petitioner can file for an application while he is still a green card holder and then becomes a citizen which upgrades the beneficiary's category as well.
On an employment visa you file for an eb3 when you are eligible for an eb3 job, you file for an eb2 when you are eligible for an eb2 job. Why would you be able to jump ahead in the eb2 line when you were clearly did not have an eb2 job ? Just because you filed an application at some point of time in eb3 and waited a decade to get a better job doesn't mean someone else has to pay for your (pick one - laziness, ineptitude, lack of skill or lack of knowledge).
Most of IV Core is made of eb3 applicants and therefore there has never been any push from the core on this matter. And as someone said .. You ARE eating my lunch..
ha ha ha ha ha .... till few days back EB2 guys were saying we are with you.... do not be jealous.... fight together for EB... now after this article, now some of EB2 people are not happy with rules & sharing true color of spirit they were talking about...

I am happy to announce that I have received the EAD cards today (just like rc0878 had suggested). I should not have doubted the encouragement and estimation of the experience here.
So, I received the EAD cards dated Sept 18th, expiry is one year from the issue date i.e. Sept 17th, 2008 (unlike someone else's cards which were valid for only 3 months).
Let me know if someone wants to ask any other information.

I belive my situation is the same as urs....i received mine and my wife I-485 receipts in mail but nothing related to EAD. My case is also transferred to TSC from California on Sep. 17 as my I140 is approved from TSC.
I want to ask u that how long did it take u to get ur EAD card after u received ur I485 receipt and from where ur EAD was issued, is it from CSC or TSC.
Did u received any receipt of EAD or u jst got the EAD directly.

Guys,
It's almost 3 weeks today since I've opened SRs for my self and my spouse for not receiving FP notice and we haven't got any notice yet.
I want to know if some one who opened a SR for FP and did not receive any FP notice after the wait period expired, what did you do? Is taking an infopass the next step for missing FP notices or just wait and watch?

We may want to try a different strategy to inquire about our FP rather than calling that number floating around which is of no use to us. All I got from calling that number was WAIT , Local ASC must be busy.
