I called there office but no clue what SKIL bill is about (Washington DC).
Can any one explain the source of this bill.
First and foremost, DO NOT CONTACT Sen. Cornyn's office.
We are privy to some information and we were told that Sen. Cornyn might introduce this to the senate today. When we say might, it means that there is a good chance he may not do so too!
And introducing just means that he will get a number assigned to it. It will NOT be debated today. The debate timeframe is decided by the majority and minority leaders Frist and Reid respectively.
We just wanted to share with you what we learned. When we learn more, we will let you guys know. For right now, all we know is in the first post.
And FYI, there are some decent provisions in this bill especially related to STEM. Also presents a solution to retrogression wherein Adjustment of Status would be possible in spite of no visa being available.

you are right we were not brought here on a gun point but at the same time we did not beg anyone to bring us here... it is entirely a two sided business deal... and no one is doing any favor to anyone here ... we are doing our job and they must do their's. and yes we are "Highly Skilled" and we do deserve repect and our voices do deserve to be heard. Sure they can put an Ad in any newspaper and replace me with someone else but the question here is not about you or me... it is about the "LEGAL IMMIGRANTS" and which in that case would include anyone who they bring in to replace me.

Received FP notice today. The online tracker says following:
Current Status: Case received and pending.
On September 11, 2007, we received this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case.
My lawyer confirmed that the application was posted on august 2nd 07.
Can anyone help me figure out when is my receipt date? And from which date can I start counting 6 months to file ac21 ?
I am in the same boat as you. Got FP notices for me and the wife today in the mail and online tracker states received on Sept 10th. My lawyer sent it on Aug 1st to NSC and file # starts with LIN so we are ok there. any thoughts? how important is the receipt notice if we have the receipt number information handy?

Any updates on your end? I am in the same situation. My wife received hers over a week ago but I am still waiting. Approval notice received more than 2 weeks ago.

Get on with sweet talks with him, do whatever he tells u to do (like sign a contract, pay ur GC cost etc). After filing u have an option to change the employer after 6 months and then no employment bond works. He will just ask for money when ur leaving him and if he doesnt give ur salary, talk to him polietly and mention the words 'Dept of Labor' in your conversation.
BTW, I got my wife salary from her employer and one of my friend was also 'bonded' ..got rid of his employer too ...using those words.
My employer is desi consultant too and is very good in such matters, quite helpful. I would recommend him to anyone. Most desi consultants are blood suckers but not all.

What is the commitment period? I know this is frustrating but deal with that as time passes by, who knows you manager changes by the time you decide to change the job or your client send a request to hire you to your vendor and in general no vendor refuse client request. Once this agreement is in file do you think someone will have time to bring this up and read clause by clause that too when you have left... there can be many reasons to leave and can not be covered under any agreement.
I will not worry about sigining this, this has no value once you get GC or become full time employee,in order to execute this agreement , they have to make sure/prove they have this agreement with each and every employee. Legal terms "EMPLOYMENT IS AT WILL" in order to chase you for 10K they need to spend time & cost both.
Here you go - These are the wordings !

It's seems TSC again in sleep mode.. Hope next week will be better.. We will cross 60 days from filing.. 30 days more to go for any CSR help unless they say call after 120 days.. :D:D
