Has anyone with the following criteria got receipt notice or have their check cashed ?
1) I-140 approved at TSC
2) LUD on I-140 on 07/22, 07/28, 08/05, 08/12 etc...
3) I-485 mailed to NSC during last week of June or early July ?

When is the next congress session? is it in Nov/Dec (the so called lame-duck session). I am wondering about chances of having some immigration measures during that session. Being a lame-duck session, do congressmen can take up a serious measure like immigration for discussion (either CIR or SKIL)? If not - is it possible to introduce some highly desirable stop-gap measures like: ability to apply for 485 during retrogession; recapturing the unused visa numbers from previous years with soft country limits (as is done a few years back); and faster backlog reduction at BEC�s. In short I am wondering about our strategy for next 4-5 months; and is there a hope - however small it maybe � hope of getting something done this year; Or our only hope is with next congress?

Talking about next congress - I was wondering about what is the best outcome for us during elections? Does democrats getting majority in both houses is better for us or is it other way? Or a combo is best for us (democrat majority in house with republican majority in senate).

Statutory warning: I know this post is full of questions of general nature (i.e. there is no definite answer). I am posting to discuss/speculate the chances of any immig measures making it in �06 or early �07.

This is a neat idea to draw worthwhile attention which at the same time won't cause any hatred. I'm sure most of us would like to act upon this.

Can one of core members talk to a florist and workout some kind of arrangement where if we call them and give a code and payment they would process the order with a pre-set message and delivery address. I'm sure we will have a large participation if we make the process simple for the mass.

Also make this a front page message.

I also think green card lottery, chain immigration, and refugee green cards should be eliminated and those visa numbers should be used for employment based immigrants because all these people can immigrate just like us through employment. We contribute more to the American society and should be given priority. I guess when we become American someday, we would like immigrants who contribute to our community too. Isn't that right? :)
Nice argument. I bet if you had your GC or if you were a US citizen before you got married you would support chain immigration - after all what good is to be in this country if you cannot bring your wife over here? How about when your parents get old and they need care? Then you will curse the system for being unfair towards family based immigration. Afterall what good is a job if you cannot bring your family here?

Try to think beyond yourself. If not, your are no better than those opposing immigration. After all, even NumbersUSA is for immigration - as long as it is restricted to a few thousand a year! So is ALIPAC - they are for legal immigration but against H1Bs immigrating to the US. How are you any different from either of these organizations? As far as a someone wanting to come to the US on the family based immigration route is concerned - you are anti-immigration too.

Are folks on this thread suggesting we contact (communicate our plans to !!!) numbersusa? They are not going to listen to us, I can guarantee you that --- even if we tone down our demands! They might use our plans to develop a more effective strategy for themselves; they hate us from the bottom of their hearts. This is the most ridiculous and impractical thing I've heard in a while.

Has any one in the forum here have a FP notice for a 4 and half year child during the 485 process. I ask this question as my daughter did not get one.

Yes, I got a FP notice for my daughter as she was born in India; and I had applied 485 for her as well.
She was 4 and a half years in Nov 07 when we got the notice. I am a July-Aug 07 filer.
Her FP notice came for a separate date though, diff from my wife's and mine.
I wd suggest you to call USCIS/ur attorney and check.

guys can i say something instead of showing our true colors we all should join force and for one common reason that is getting our green cards done.I have been here for last 13 years and am still awaiting my green card as my eb2 application got denied as my employer showed loss in the year opf filling my petition and then i became lazy and didnt file in eb3 category but now finally i amd awaiting the pd so lets all get together and get greened.

Gurus,

I have a unique position. couple of weeks back I was told that have fatal cancer and won't live pass 4-6 months. After recovering from initial shock I am wondering if my wife will be able to continue her american dream or she will have to head home after me.

I have filed 485 with approved 140 back in june, 2007 with PD of March, 2003

Please help.

I was confident on this before, you have just made me super confident.

I have been saying all along that one can get a same/similar job after 180 days irrespective of the whether I-140 was approved or not. I don't know why some people / lawyers spread so much mis-information on this topic.

Necessity of 2nd I-140 (if original I-140 denied after 180 days) by new employer is a bit vague and debatable. That's why there are different opinions. For argument sake, if 1st I-140 is approved after, say 360 days, and the beneficiary is already working for the 2nd employer (after waiting for 182 days), what is the sanctity of 1st employer being willing and capable of hiring at this time when there is no intention of beneficiary to work for him.

Bottom line is (I am contracdicting my own argument of previous post), longer the USCIS takes in approving 1st I-140, less is the need of 2nd I-140 by the new employer.

There are always grey areas in law, otherwise we don't need lawyers:).
