These youth face several barriers to a college education. I do not believe that we should punish children for their parents' actions. For many of them, the United States is the only country they consider home. With the chance to attend college, they will be able to fully contribute to our nation's future. The DREAM Act, S. 729, would allow undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. as children and pursue a college education or enlist in our nation's military to apply for conditional permanent resident status.
The DREAM Act, of which I am a cosponsor, is bipartisan legislation narrowly tailored for undocumented students who have lived in the United States since they were children, succeeded in school, and want to be productive members of society. My AP's receipt date at TSC was 6/30. It was approved on 7/13 and I have received APs from attorney last week. BTW, my EAD/APs were sent to NSC on 6/15 but only AP was forwrded to TSC and I got receipt date as 6/30 from TSC. So it took 4 weeks including forward time from NSC to TSC

I don't think people are in reality. We are in an environment that we have to be diligent that they don't make it harder then what it is; rather then making it easier.
People started playing the devils advocate that if there is quotas on EB then there should also be quota on H-1b; sort of trying to say if there isn't quota on h-1b then there shouldn't be on EB.
A little while ago; some Indian nationals who were here on H-2 visa to help with re-construcing mississipi and louisiana after hurrican katrina got the bright idea to do a march and go public with their grievances. Their grievances were that they paid $15K to come to USA; they were given poor housing, poor working conditions and they want to get greencards.
Do you think they got greencards? No; now the law has been changed to not include India as part of H-2 visas.
Everyone should try to understand the reality that we are in.
This is exactly what I was saying. People are getting overzealous and are losing their balance. By attracting too much attention when everyone in power is being anti-immigrant you people will hurt everyone. They will impose some more restrictions on us.
We need to lay low for a while until economy improves and focus on keeping our jobs. That is the need of the hour rather than becoming a hero and trying to go against the wave.

I have EB2 PERM and EB3 I140 approved. Since my EB3 PD date is earlier than EB2 PD , my lawyer filed my 485 with EB3 I140.
Is there any way to find from 485 receipt or application which I140 was used for filing ?

Hi,
I 485 reached Nebraska on 3rd July, received by F.Heinauer 11.14 AM. I140 approved by Nebraska. Checks encashed today by Nebraska. I think, atlast, they started digging the 2nd and 3rd july filers applications. Hang on guys we should be getting the reciepts soon.

I myself will not support for skill Bill in current form. Too much H1b numbers will not only create a problem for US citizens it will also for current H1bs as well future H1bs. That 20% automatic adjustment and exemption for Cap for MS persons will increase supply and it will be tough to find a job if too many people are in the market. There are abundant jobs in India. Let people wait in India for 1 or 2 years to come here. Sustained immigration without increasing unemployment is better for US as well as potential immigrants. Otherwise Hate will increase. It may be easy to talk Capitalism and fittest will survive. When those people talking will be unemployed for more than 6 months with kids in the family will realise the truth. In the Forum most of the people are young and they did not face any issue other than Green card.
But speed with which Corporations and Lawyers are working the Skill bill be passed in current form soon. We will wait and see after 3 years after increasing H1B. My prediction is Limited increase in H1 with Moderate increase in GC numbers will solve the problem for all the gc waiting people without big reaction from anti immigrants and that will boost sustained immigration.

For god's sake, if you intend to send hundreds of emails and letters and call yourselves highly skilled immigrants, can you take the time to have your letter proof read by someone? If not anyone, at least by Microsoft Word?? I start reading the text of some of the emails and shake my head at some of the gobbledegook you are spewing. It is counter productive to say the least.

I have a friend who got offer like u. He is cautious and paid $350 and met an Employment attorney re. non-compete. If u work at same desk and perform same duties as with ur prior employer, attorney told it comes under violation (as per his aggreement, if it says 'directly or indirectly' ). If they sue you u have to pay the loss and leave the job. The question is will ur employer Sue? He might get sued back for violations he did like missing payments to you, and many other dirty tricks to save money!!
The more u know the more complicated is non-compete, search online forums on non-compete. u can also consult some attorneys online.
Easy way may be talk to him and try to settle. Otherwise ask for your agreement and get it reviewed by an attorney.

All the appropriations bill will be dealt by the new Democratic Congress in Jan-Feb (CR expires Feb 15). Immigratio Relief provisions can be attached to these bills...i believe there is widespread support for these among both Democrats and most Republicans

My friend sent her package on may 18th and she saw on uscis that they dated the receipt as june 1st... so that can give you an idea.
I sent mine on June 1st....nothing yet.
on june 6th the immigration.com breaking new claims there is a backlog of receipt for up to 45 days.
I am expecting to get mine at least by june 30th because with the flood of applications on july first....whoi knows

None of this damn crap is fair. There are 3 lines in the green card queue. 1) Labor/PERM line, further subdivided on the basis of BEC, PERM, Employer willingness, exempt(NIW) etc. 2) the I-140 Line and 3) the I-485 line. These lines each have inconsistent patterns depending upon the winds of the day, a few years ago, LC/BEC lines were long, employers were less willing to sponsor green cards, and there was no I-140 PP processing, now all of a sudden PERM is there, PP of 140 came into being, and 485 became an eternal wait and country quotas came into being. For those that got screwed with BECs then PP 140 got removed when they were ready to file and now PD retrogressed into the stone age, it sure would seem like non sense for the guy who got PERM in 2 weeks, then PP 140 in 10 days and filed 485 in he July fiasco. Nevertheless you are only speaking in terms of degrees of getting screwed, since all are being done so by an unpredictable and unreliable system.

A wait of 2yrs, 5yrs or 10 yrs is immaterial, all of the above are ridiculous in EB immigration, degrees of unfairness is splitting hairs if you ask me. If we can all agree on that then, we have a platform to move forward with, otherwise we will get nowhere. Your case is like me, except I am porting Priority date from my previous approved I-140 Eb3 case. Your new I-140 transferred to Texas Service centre because your employer comes under Texas Service centre. Your residency location also comes under Texas service centre. So you will receive I-485, I-765 and I-131 with SRC numbers. But it may take longer time.
Good thing is Texas Service center is processing I-140 applications in May 2007. Max they are taking 5 months. People are discussing about LUD, it doesn't matter. It seems Texas service centre doing some regular maintenance. If you register your old approved H1s, their LUDs also changing.
